WORLD LANGUAGE CLASSES CROSSOVER |
Our German and Chinese classes came together for this knowledge exchange! Students prepared activities to teach one another. Everything from charades and food tastings to a Kahoot, word-sounding exercises, writing activities, and even a dance. The first session took place in the Chinese classroom, with a follow-up visit planned in the German room next time. In these cross-class collaboration, students stay highly engaged as they teach, learn, and gain insight from each other into a different culture and language offered here at Prep.

PANTHERS 'PRESS ON' AND TAKE ACTION AT IGNATIAN FAMILY TEACH-IN FOR JUSTICE |
Seattle Prep’s delegation to the annual Ignatian Family Teach-in for Justice (IFTJ) returned last Monday after a packed weekend in our nation’s capitol. This year, 18 students and 4 faculty attended the IFTJ with over two thousand other students from dozens of Jesuit high schools, universities, and ministries across the country. The theme of the teach-in this year was "Pressing On," and powerful keynote speakers and breakout sessions focused on this theme. The aim of the conference is for participants to learn about important issues and pathways to a more just world, to connect with other students across the Jesuit Network who share their passions, and to be inspired to live out a faith that does justice. The conference culminates in an advocacy day where Prep students lobbied on issues they care about in meetings with staffers from Washington’s congressional delegation. We are excited to see how this group of students continues to cultivate their commitment to leadership, justice, and advocacy back home at Prep!

SEATTLE PREP'S ANNUAL GIVING TREE |
Seattle Prep's annual Giving Tree program kicks off Tuesday, November 25 with an assembly led by seniors in Ms. Harvey's Faith in Action class. Inspired by the Christmas classic, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, the assembly aims to ignite a spirit of fun, community, and generosity. For a preview of the assembly and the Giving Tree program, check out this video made by the seniors. During this upcoming season of Advent, as we prepare our hearts and homes to celebrate the birth of Christ, the Giving Tree program offers the entire Prep community a chance to support the good work of local social service organizations that support families of all kinds. Each grade level has selected a local organization to focus their generosity:
🎁 Freshmen will adopt Ronald McDonald House and collect toys/gifts for children and youth (ages 0-12) for the families served by Ronald McDonald House.
🍼 Sophomores will collect diapers, baby formula, and winter clothing for infants and toddlers for Westside Baby. 🎒 Juniors will adopt Recovery Cafe and collect hygiene items, warm socks, blankets, and other items for the guests at Recovery Cafe. 🎁 Seniors will collect toys and holiday gifts for teens (ages 13-18) for Treehouse for Kids.
🎄 Additionally, on an actual Christmas tree, all members of the community can pick up a "golden ticket" ornament that request gift cards for $10-25 to places like Target, QFC, Uwajimaya, Whole Foods, and Starbucks - all places downtown and close to Catholic Housing Services communities (specifically St. Martin's on Westlake, Bakhita Gardens, and Dorothy Day House). The gift cards will go to residents of these three communities.
Students can drop off donations in collection boxes in their Collegio classrooms or the library (for seniors) as soon as they return from Thanksgiving Break. All donations must be collected by Wednesday, December 17 to allow time for counting and delivery. Please reach out to Ms. Miller with questions.
